The surrounding water table is so high and so active that the site had to be dewatered 24 hours a day. A power cut during the build cased the whole site to flood to around 2’.
Project Details
In beautiful rural South Leicestershire, near Market Harborough Beautiful Basements built a very large basement using timber shuttering and mass filled reinforced concrete.
The extremely active water table in the area meant a specialist cellar builder, with experience of dealing with these issues would be required.
The whole site is drained using an external land drain linked to an external dual pumping station and the basement is protected internally by a cavity drainage membrane (CDM) system linked to a second sump and dual pumping station. Both pumping stations are protected by an alarm system, designed to alert the owners should the water tables become even higher and more active.
